New research from Danske Bank MarketsMarket movers today

Today, focus will be on inflation in Scandinavia, with the release of the Norwegian and Danish CPI inflation figures. Later this week, the Swedish Prospera inflation survey is due to be released.

In terms of global data releases, it will be a quiet day. The main event will be the release of the euro area Sentix investor confidence figure. The figure has been on an upward trend for the past year and has reached pre-crisis levels. We look for another modest increase but on a longer-term horizon, we see downside risk to the figure.

The German trade balance figures are likely to attract some attention given the rising focus on protectionism and a ‘too’ competitive German export industry. See The Economist , 8 July 2017.

The main events for this week will be the testimony from Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen as well as the Bank of Canada policy meeting. There will be significant focus on the global tightening of monetary policy and these events could lead to more speculation on this.
